    Colter May

A person wearing a black rain jacket stands outdoors in front of a rocky, snow-covered mountain landscape, looking to the side with a calm expression.

Colter May is a contemporary artist whose work explores the rugged beauty of the American West through a raw and experimental process. Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, he grew up surrounded by wildlife and wild spaces—an environment that continues to shape his artistic voice today. His childhood was filled with adventure: tracking deer through the woods, sledding down snowy hills, and watching hawks circle above open fields.

His deep respect for wildlife came from time spent in the mountains with his father, while his creative instincts were sparked by his mother’s encouragement to imagine freely and find joy in making. Those early influences instilled in him a love for exploration—both in nature and in the studio. That spirit of discovery still fuels his work, as he blends natural materials like sand, clay, and charcoal into layered, tactile paintings that invite connection.

  • Bluebird Bands 2025: William Beckmann

Sundance Mountain Resort is proud to present Bluebird Bands: A Plugged In Concert Experience, featuring William Beckmann.

The original Bluebird Cafe is located in Nashville and has been in partnership with Sundance for 23 years. Bluebird Bands pays homage to the roots of The Bluebird Cafe by featuring the best of Nashville bands.

William Beckmann is drawn to things that have stories to tell: historic buildings, old guitars, the vintage typewriter on which he writes all of his lyrics. And if you call the Texas singer-songwriter an “old soul,” the 28-year-old will take it as a compliment. Beckmann — a thrilling vocalist who sings in both English and Spanish — has been recording and performing a type of vibrant, modern-day country music that also pays tribute to what came before. Hailing from the small border town of Del Rio, TX, William Beckmann was raised on classic country as well as the mariachi and Norteño sounds of northern Mexico. His 2022 album Faded Memories features the slow-burn single “Bourbon Whiskey,” the mesmerizing cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire,” and the haunting “In The Dark.” The album garnered praise from critics including American Songwriter, Billboard, CMT and more. 2023’s album Here’s To You, Here’s To Me included the fan-favorite, “Tennessee Drinkin,’” and was Beckmann’s fifth consecutive song to hit Top 20 on the Texas Regional Radio Chart. He has spent the last year touring with artists including Parker McCollum, Hank Williams Jr., Charley Crockett, and the Randy Rogers Band in addition to selling out five of his own shows at the legendary Gruene Hall and headlining Billy Bob’s Texas. In the Spring of 2023, Beckmann made his Grand Ole Opry debut and one year later he signed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville.

  • Voices of Nature: Mollie’s Pack – A Documentary of Wolf Reintroduction in Yellowstone

Sundance Nature Alliance welcomes Tom Winston, Producer and Director, to present his film, Mollie’s Pack.

This compelling feature documentary unveils the remarkable story of wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone National Park through restored 16mm footage that was thought to have been lost for decades. The film chronicles the parallel journeys of two pioneers: Mollie Beattie, the first female director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Wolf #5, the alpha female who would inspire the name of one of Yellowstone’s most significant wolf packs.

The narrative begins on January 12, 1995, when Beattie carried the first Canadian-born wolf into Yellowstone’s experimental acclimation enclosure, marking the species’ return after a 50-year absence. Through archival footage and in-depth interviews with key participants, the film documents this historic conservation milestone and its lasting impact on America’s first national park.

    Seating is limited.

  • Motion Pictures Exhibition

Join us at Kimball Art Center in honor of the 100th anniversary of film in Utah, this exhibition showcases contemporary artists who explore film as both a medium and a metaphor.
By reimagining its distinctive qualities—such as temporality, light, and narrative potential—these artists deconstruct the elements and materials of the cinematic experience in innovative ways. Each work offers profound reflections on themes of memory, time, and perception, inviting viewers to reconsider the nature of film itself.
Works in the show include: Spencer Finch’s West (Sunset in My Motel Room, Monument Valley, January 26, 2007, 5:36-6:06 pm) is an extremely poetic and sensory work, reenacting the fading sunset as measured from John Wayne’s hotel room in Monument Valley, where he stayed during the filming of the John Ford Western classic, The Searchers. Despite the etherial nature of the reflected light of the setting sun, this is not an out-of-body Turrell-like work. The analog, massive screens and shelving unit give a body and presence to the work. Nature and culture meet in a symbiotic whole.

  • DeVon Solo Exhibition

Get ready for an exhilarating ride into the colorful and dynamic world of pop culture with DeVon, whose vibrant works continue the legacy of American Pop Art while creating his own unique and timely perspective. Showing at Prospect Gallery, DeVon’s latest exhibition celebrates his iconic style while pushing artistic techniques and excellence. Through this collection, he immerses audiences in a high-energy, visually stunning exploration of pop culture, movies, comics, rock-and-roll, and all the icons that define cool. Join us for a two-night art demo and one-of-a-kind speaking engagement, Friday and Saturday, January 24th and January 25th, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

DeVon’s connection to the lineage of Pop Art runs deep. Having collaborated and been mentored by the late Steve Kaufman, former art assistant to Andy Warhol, DeVon traces his artistic roots directly back to the father of American Pop Art. Through Kaufman’s guidance, DeVon has honed his craft to create pop art that not only honors but also innovates Pop Art’s fundamental ethos. Much like Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and other iconic figures, DeVon takes the so-called “low art” of comics and everyday consumer imagery and elevates it to the realm of high art.

DeVon’s show Prospect Gallery is a celebration of his evolution. It is a vibrant testament to the power of art as both a cultural reflection and a forward-looking vision. In a world where pop culture continuously reshapes itself, DeVon stands as a bridge between the past and the present, offering fresh takes on the icons we love and the heroes we adore.

  • “Who Are You” a tribute to the music of “The Who” featuring Carl Dixon

Who Are You, boasts a complete repertoire of Who favorites ranging from the early classics like “I Can’t Explain” and “Magic Bus,” to songs from their more mature years like “Baba O’Riley” and, of course, “Who Are You.” Featuring Carl Dixon (lead singer of The Guess Who).

    About the event

The music of The Who defined a generation, and more, has successfully managed to withstand the test of time. When it comes to pop music, success is measured by longevity, and songs like “My Generation,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again” or “Behind Blue Eyes” are just as relevant now as they were when Pete Townshend penned them decades ago.

No one wrote quite like him, as no voice compares to Roger Daltrey’s and no rhythm section quite measures up to the bar set by John Entwistle and Keith Moon. However, Massachusetts-based tribute band, Who Are You, have dedicated themselves to providing the most authentic Who experience they can.

Who Are You, boasts a complete repertoire of Who favorites ranging from the early classics like “I Can’t Explain” and “Magic Bus,” to songs from their more mature years like “Baba O’Riley” and, of course, “Who Are You.” The band also performs the band’s revolutionary album, “Tommy,” which defined the term “rock opera,” in its entirety.

Playing venues throughout the US and Canada, Who Are You brings their audience an exciting multimedia experience that aims to recreate the sheer power that drove The Who to their reputation as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s best live acts.

    WHO ARE YOU is:

    • Carl Dixon-Lead Vocals & Harmonica
    • Garrett Lechowski-Lead Guitar, Vocals, Electronics
    • Brian Burd-Bass, Vocals
    • John Kiernan-Drums

  • Michael McLean’s “Threads” – LIVE ON STAGE!

Threads is a two-person show that celebrates the potential that women have to affect each other by example. Featuring Michael McLean portraying a man attempting to teach his granddaughter about examples she can follow by reminiscing about many women who shaped his own life. Co-star: Lisa Blaser.

    About the event

SALT LAKE CITY — Some people go to Costco and come away with bulk foods. Songwriter/playwright Michael McLean goes there and comes away with the idea for his new two-person musical, “Threads.”

“I was there with my 2-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter, Sadie,” he said, explaining that her real name is Proxeda Louise, “but I call her Sadie so she won’t have to be home-schooled.”

“We’re walking through Costco and we see the princess costume dresses,” McLean said. “And she has to have one of those dresses. When I finally relent and buy the dress for her, the joy in her face is so overwhelming I decide I’m going to buy her everything she wants for the rest of her life.”

Standing there in Costco, McLean says he had “this huge epiphany about women and clothes.” The music and lyrics of a song — “I’m Not Leaving ‘Til I’ve Got That Dress On Me” — started coming together in his mind.

“I started thinking about women and clothes,” he said. “In my mind I saw this fashion show, with all of these really amazing women I’ve known over the course of my life. They walk the runway of the fashion show wearing remarkably different things that reflect their lives. They are all beautiful in their own way, and their clothes become a metaphor for choices they’ve made as well as a device that allows them to sing about their lives.

“And I’m sitting there thinking, I want to give part of that outfit to Sadie,” McLean continued. “I want to get everything Sadie needs from these incredible women.”

The result of McLean’s epiphany is “Threads.”

“This show speaks to the audience that I understand about things that I care about deeply.”

    – Michael McLean

After thirteen years, traveling hundreds of thousands of miles on the road and winning over as many fans, fans who still continually tell the group how grateful they are that Cash’d Out so righteously carries the torch of the Johnny Cash Show.

Besides music critics anointing Cash’d Out as “the next best thing to Johnny Cash”, their highlights have been many:

W.S. Holland, Johnny Cash’s longtime drummer, has sat in with Cash’d Out;  front man, Douglas Benson, has played Johnny’s cherry sunburst Guild guitar (courtesy of Mr. Miller);  “Cindy Cash came to a show and was moved to give me a glass locket that was her father’s,” explains Benson;  Longtime Johnny Cash manager Lou Robin has also been to several Cash’d Out shows and claimed that if he closed his eyes it was as if “going back in time.”;  And most recently, an unforgettable evening performing the music of Johnny Cash with the San Diego Symphony as a special event for their Summer Pops Series.

  • Io Capitano

April 5-7 | Not Rated | 121 mins | Directed by Matteo Garrone | Friday and Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday 6:00 PM

In this acclaimed film which won top directing and acting prizes at the Venice Film Festival, writer-director Garrone presents a “reverse shot” of the immigration experience while unfurling an epic, cinematographically magnificent odyssey from West Africa to Italy. The story is told through the mind’s eye and experiences of two Senegalese teenagers living in Dakar who yearn for a brighter future in Europe. Yet between their dreams and reality lies a treacherous journey through a labyrinth of checkpoints, the scorched Saharan desert, a fetid North African prison and the vast waters of the Mediterranean where thousands have died packed inside vessels barely fit for passage.

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Feature Film

“A grand, honestly felt emotional sweep… Garrone’s most robust, purely satisfying filmmaking since his international breakthrough with Gomorrah 15 years ago.” — Variety

Beaver Land – How one weird rodent made America

Written by Leila Philip. October 12, 2024

An intimate and revelatory dive into the world of the beaver—the wonderfully weird rodent that has surprisingly shaped American history and may save its ecological future.

From award-winning writer Leila Philip, Beaverland is a masterful work of narrative science writing, a book that highlights, through history and contemporary storytelling, how this weird rodent plays an oversized role in American history and its future. She follows fur trappers who lead her through waist-high water, fur traders and fur auctioneers, as well as wildlife managers, PETA activists, Native American environmental vigilantes, scientists, engineers, and the colorful group of activists known as beaver believers.

    Giants Rising

A film by Lisa Landers. October 26, 2024

GIANTS RISING tells the epic tale of our relationship with America’s iconic redwood forests. Prized for the quality of their wood, some 95% of the primeval redwoods have been logged since the1800s. The losses were dramatic, but so too have been the battles to protect these trees, then and now.

In this film we meet passionate people dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of the redwoods and safeguarding their future. They include a scientific detective uncovering the secrets of redwood resilience, members of the Yurok Tribe fighting to restore their cultural connections to these forests, a park manager summoning new life from ravaged timberlands, and a modern-day Ansel Adams who’s attempting to display a life-size photograph of a 310 foot redwood— a portrait she hopes will rekindle our connection to these ambassadors from another time.

Through the stories of these redwood devotees and others, we also delve into questions about why we evolved to experience such intense awe in the presence of redwoods, and how spending time in these forests also offers social benefits— like making us more compassionate, generous, and willing to cooperate with each other for the greater good. The goal of GIANTS RISING is not only to celebrate the marvels of redwoods and all they do for us, but to recognize what we can do for them to ensure they continue rising up for generations to come

  • Sawyer Brown @ High Star Ranch

Sawyer Brown is Performing at DeJoria Center on High Star Ranch, November 11, 2023!

Sawyer Brown is an American country music band founded in 1981 in Apopka, Florida, by five members of country pop singer Don King’s road band: Bobby Randall (guitar), Jim Scholten (bass guitar), Joe Smyth (drums), Gregg “Hobie” Hubbard (keyboards), and Mark Miller (lead vocals). After King retired in 1981, the five members decided to form a band, first choosing the name Savanna before switching to Sawyer Brown, taken from the name of a road near where they practiced. Sawyer Brown first gained national attention in 1983 when they participated on Star Search, a former television talent show on which they won the grand prize of $100,000. They received many offers in Los Angeles, including a Monkees-like television show, but opted to return to Nashville. They quickly earned a recording contract with Capitol Records (in association with Curb Records). Their first album, also titled Sawyer Brown, was issued in 1985. It included their first Number One single on the Billboard country music charts, titled “Step That Step”. The band continued to chart regularly throughout the 1980s, although many of their late-1980s singles failed to enter Top 40.

The band signed with Capitol Records and scored a Top 20 hit with their first single, “Leona,” in 1984. That success was quickly followed by their first #1 hit, “Step That Step”.

In 1991, after the release of their album Buick, guitarist Bobby Randall left the group to remain close to his family and host a short-lived TV talent show, You Can Be A Star. Duncan Cameron, formerly of The Amazing Rhythm Aces, was chosen as his replacement just as Sawyer Brown was about to become country music’s “it” band. The band then switched labels, moving to Curb Records and releasing the albums The Dirt Road, Cafe On The Corner, and Outskirts Of Town, which saw hit after hit for the band in the early to mid-’90s.

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: The Music of Chicago with Danny Seraphine’s CTA

The Music of Chicago with Danny Seraphine featuring former Chicago Bassist and Vocalist Jeff Coffey.

HEAR the songbook of Chicago including 25 or 6 to 4, Saturday in the Park, If You Leave Me Now, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?, Beginnings, Colour My World, Just You ‘N’ Me, Feelin’ Stronger Every Day, Baby, Make Me Smile, and much more.

CHICAGO INITIALLY gained fame opening for music legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, and the Beach Boys, hitting its stride almost immediately after their debut effort, Chicago Transit Authority, a double album, came out in 1969.

From the beginning, Seraphine, as the drummer, was always the backbone of the operation. It was his job to keep everyone in time and on balance. He set the pace and carried it through to the end, no matter what. In 1990, after 23 years of performing, composing, and recording albums with Chicago, Seraphine experienced a jarring parting of ways with the bandmates that he considered brothers. The rift threw his life into chaos. Together they had toured the world and created one of the most enduring American songbooks of all time.

In 2007, spiritually and creatively reinvigorated, Seraphine returned to the stage with his new jazz-rock powerhouse group, California Transit Authority (CTA) often described as “Chicago on steroids”—and he made peace with his past with the refreshingly candid memoir Street Player: My Chicago Story (Wiley).

Since then, Booker has lent his trademark keyboard chops to and produced classic albums such as Willie Nelson’s multi-platinum hit Stardust and Bill Withers’ Just As I Am featuring the hit song Ain’t No Sunshine. • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: Third Eye Blind

Since 1997, San Francisco’s Third Eye Blind has recorded five best-selling albums and assembled one career retrospective.   Led by Stephan Jenkins, 3EB has earned worldwide success during a tumultuous group of years when the major-label recording industry was finally losing its grip on an enterprise that for decades it had dominated with steely efficiency.  Nothing could have made 3EB happier!

Third Eye Blind’s 2021 album Our Bande Apart was recorded when lockdown ended, with Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast and Ryan Olson of Poliça.  The band has continued to have gained artistic clarification—and, surprisingly, a fanbase that is larger, younger, and more dedicated than ever.

Third Eye Blind is supporting SeaTrees on its 2022 tour, an organization that helps restore a portion of the Palos Verdes Kelp Forest.  The ocean has the power to restore climate change.  The latest science shows that globally, kelp forests can sequester more carbon than mangrove forests – restoring these sequoias of the sea is critical to solving climate change as 93% of all carbon in the carbon cycle is stored in our oceans (meaning just 7% is stored across our atmosphere and land biosphere.

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: Cory Wong

Music motivates at the most primal level. You instinctually hum a tune in order to get pumped up in the morning, for fuel on the treadmill, to soundtrack your commute, or as the pre-game to a big night out. As much as he treasures his roles as a guitarist, composer, and producer, Cory Wong fashions himself “a hype man,” first and foremost. Living up to this classification, he slings a Stratocaster and hurls “dad jokes” from the stage with the same panache, poise, and power.

“For me, it’s all about the listener’s experience,” he explains. “I want them to have a visceral response like: ‘I feel better,’ ‘That was really fun,’ or ‘I got to escape for an hour.’ You’ll hear my voice through the guitar, but I’m just a hype man. To uplift audiences with instrumental music that has no singing or lyrics is a fun challenge. I’m trying to solve the riddle. If I can get one person to feel good this way, it’s a success.”

Straight out of Minneapolis, Cory positioned himself as music’s answer to motivational speakers like Tony Robbins since emerging in 2011. Head-spinning rhythm guitar wizardry, technical ebullience, laugh-out-loud jokes, and radiance on stage established him as both a sought-after collaborator and celebrated solo artist alike. He lent his talents to television programs such as The Voice at the dawn of his career. After an impromptu meeting at the weekly jam hosted by Prince’s rhythm section (where the Purple One often either performed or watched), he crossed paths with Vulfpeck who welcomed him as a frequent collaborator and member of the band. Solidifying a fruitful partnership, the group named their most popular instrumental track “Cory Wong,” in tribute. Lighting up the stage in the band everywhere from Red Rocks Amphitheatre to Madison Square Garden, he remains a cornerstone of Vulfpeck’s storied gigs.

In the end, Cory transmits joy in its purest form through the guitar. “The guiding light is to impart a feeling of joy,” he leaves off. “I want people to experience instrumental music in a different way. This is hype. It’s more than just guitar.”

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: Lalah Hathaway

Lalah Hathaway is a 5x GRAMMY award-winning singer/songwriter and producer and 10-time nominee. Undeniable music royalty and a 30-year music industry veteran, Lalah’s music transcends genre – from R&B ballads to pop standards and soulful jazz – she has collaborated with today’s top hitmakers, including Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Anderson. Paak and Snoop Dogg. Lalah has also shared the stage with music legends, from Prince to Stevie Wonder to Anita Baker. Film and television credits include appearing as herself in the 2017 hit film “Girls Trip,” as the wedding singer in the series finale of BET’s “Being Mary Jane,” a cameo in Yvette Nicole Brown’s film “Always A Bridesmaid,” and features as a special guest on the latest season of “Family Reunion” on Netflix.

Lalah headlined the Lincoln Center’s Out of Doors summer concert series in 2019 with the sold-out show “Legacy: Lalah Hathaway Sings Donny Hathaway.” Lalah also served as a featured artist on the lost album of the legendary Miles Davis appearing on the single “So Emotional.” This year, Lalah’s song “Show Me Your Soul,” from the hit documentary ‘Mr. Soul!,’ was featured on the Oscars 2021 shortlist for Best Original Song.

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: The National Parks

You know the feeling when the clouds part and the sun shines down on you, the rush you get when you run and jump into a lake at full speed, or the moment a gust of morning air brings new life as you step outside and look at the world around you? The National Parks translate these sensations into songs. The Provo, UT quartet—Brady Parks [vocals, guitar], Sydney Macfarlane [vocals, keys], Cam Brannelly [drums], and Megan Parks [violin]—breathe in inspiration from the world around them and exhale cinematic indie folk-pop powered by soaring harmonies, organic orchestration, and luminous electronics. Emerging in 2013, the musicians have consistently captivated audiences. They’ve generated over 150 million streams across Young [2013], Until I Live [2015], Places [2017], and Wildflower [2020]. As one of many highlights from the latter, “Time” amassed over 9.3 million Spotify streams as the album incited widespread critical applause. Parade raved, “Wildflower is chock full of adventure, wonder, freedom, and inspiration, while The Line Of Best Fit attested, “it seems that the sky really is the limit for this quartet.” Mxdwn noted, “The National Parks have perfectly melded folk with catchy melodies, strong grunge chords and poetic lyrics in Wildflower. The four-piece maintained this momentum with a sold-out headline tour and 2021’s A Mix for the End of the World pt.1. Now, the group expand their vision yet again on their fifth full-length offering, 8th Wonder.

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: LOCASH

Named “country music’s iconic feel-good duo” by PEOPLE, Wheelhouse Records/BMG’s LOCASH – Preston Brust and Chris Lucas – is “hitting homers and serving up first-class songs,” as hailed by American Songwriter. With their loud-and-proud anthem “Three Favorite Colors” as their latest release, they recently delivered back-to-back high-profile collaborations with “Let It Slide” (Leslie Jordan, Blanco Brown, LOCASH) and “Beach Boys” (feat. The Beach Boys’ Mike Love and Bruce Johnston). LOCASH’s wild-and-free WOODS & WATER – EP (2021) marked the follow-up to BROTHERS (2019), featuring GOLD #1 “One Big Country Song.” Known for PLATINUM breakout “I Love This Life” and their first #1 with GOLD “I Know Somebody,” they’ve earned eight charting singles, two successful albums, and over 815 MILLION global on-demand streams since 2015. Respected entertainers with prominent recognition, they hold a history of nods from the genre’s biggest awards shows including a Vocal Duo of the Year nomination at The 56th Annual CMA Awards. Last launching their extended headlining WOODS & WATER TOUR 2022, LOCASH is currently on the road with Kane Brown’s DRUNK OR DREAMING TOUR.

  • Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series: Dispatch

Marriage, birth, death, departure; for Dispatch’s Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan, the only constant these past few years has been change. Add to that the divisive political climate, long-overdue reckonings on racial justice and gender equality, and a global pandemic, and you’ve got an idea of the tensions fueling the band’s extraordinary latest album. Marking the band’s eighth studio release, the songs on this record speak not only to the band’s personal evolution but to human nature itself, charting a course from denial and resistance to growth and acceptance through deep introspection and empathetic character studies. The music is pure Dispatch, and the five piece continues to grow and push their boundaries, taking surprise turns without ever abandoning the signature sound that’s made them one of independent rock’s most indelible acts over the last two-and-a-half decades. The songs on Break Our Fall blend infectious roots rock with hints of reggae, folk, and blues, and the productions similarly lean and energetic, leaving plenty of space for some of the group’s most pointed, political lyrics to date. The result is an ode to resilience and survival, a timely and essential album that still manages to find hope and joy on even the darkest of days.

  • Everclear with The Ataris @ DeJoria Center

Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the ‘90s, celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2022, and founder, vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis has made it clear that he has no plans to slow down. Since forming in 1992, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career by any measure, spanning 11 studio releases, including four that have been certified Gold or Platinum, selling over 6 million records, and achieving 12 Top 40 Hit Singles on Mainstream Rock, Alternative, and Adult Top 40 radio, including “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Wonderful” and “Everything To Everyone,” as well as numerous videos, thousands of shows, and various other accolades, including a 1998 Grammy nomination.

After the demise of his band Colorfinger in 1992, Alexakis was struggling to make it in Portland, where he’d moved from San Francisco. That extremely difficult personal and creative period was the crucible that forged Alexakis into the fiery songwriter heard on the early Everclear demos, the Nervous & Weird EP (1993), and ultimately the World of Noise LP, both released on the Portland independent label Tim/Kerr Records. The original 1993 release of World of Noise, paired with the band’s significant efforts to break into college radio and the buzz they’d created within the Portland music scene, attracted the attention of major labels, including Capitol Records, which signed the group soon after. Beginning with their major-label debut, 1995’s platinum-selling album Sparkle and Fade, and its massive chart-topping hit “Santa Monica,” Everclear was soon a household name and catapulted into the masses, thus allowing their impressive three-decade career to prosper and endure.

In 2019, while being treated for an injury caused by a minor car accident, Alexakis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and learned that he had likely been living with the disease for nearly twenty years. Since being diagnosed, Art has donated one dollar from every ticket purchased for his performances to charities such as Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and National MS Society.

In 2022, Everclear reissued World Of Noise as a special 30th Anniversary remastered, deluxe edition, making the album available for the first time on digital streaming platforms with 6 bonus songs in addition to its original 12 tracks. Adding to the celebrations that year, Everclear released a commemorative anniversary video, “Everclear – 30 Years Gone: A Retrospective,” hosted by former MTV VJ, current radio host and longtime friend Matt Pinfield, and embarked on a lengthy North American Tour. One special stop on the tour, back in Alexakis’ hometown of Los Angeles, was recorded and filmed for a new live album. Live at The Whisky a Go Go, set for release September 8, 2023 via Sunset Blvd. Records, features all the hits and hidden treasures from throughout Everclear’s extraordinary catalog as well as two new original bonus studio tracks.

In addition to his thousands of Everclear performances over the band’s lengthy career, Alexakis created and runs the annual Summerland Tour, which features a package of popular ‘90s alt rock bands, and he released his first solo album, Sun Songs, in 2019. More than three decades later, Everclear’s enduring legacy and ongoing appeal as a live band continues.

  • Cody Canada & The Departed

Cody Canada & The Departed is Performing at DeJoria Center on High Star Ranch on August 10, 2023!

“In the finite world of the beautiful human beings and first rate musicians, none is finer than Cody Canada.” – Robert Earl Keen

Fourteen songs that blur the lines between hard-edged country, rock & roll, and all the gritty sounds in between. Cody Canada and the Departed’s new album 3, out June 29th, finds the band in a new head space, more confident than ever of who they are. The band’s first record as a lean power trio, 3 shines a light on the core ingredients of The Departed’s sound. There’s plenty of amplified crunch, Red Dirt twang, roadhouse-worthy guitar riffs, story-based songwriting, and the familiar rasp of Canada’s voice — an instrument that’s been sharpened by years of raw, redemptive shows. Working with producer Mike McClure, the band tracked their new material during breaks in an otherwise busy touring schedule, approaching the recording sessions the same way they’d approach a live show.

“The idea was to get into the studio and simplify things, remaining as true to a three-piece as possible,” says Canada, who pulls triple-duty as the lineup’s frontman, songwriter, and lead guitarist. “If you really want to leave your mark, it’s all about the songs, not how many people you can cram into the studio.”

It’s been a quarter century since Canada kicked off his career. A road warrior and prolific songwriter, Canada was the frontman of Cross Canadian Ragweed, a wildly influential band that dominated the Red Dirt scene for more than a decade, and made music that reached far beyond the genre’s borders, selling millions of albums and playing for huge audiences across the U.S. Canada formed the Departed in 2011. With 3, he nods to his former band’s glory days, brewing up a sound that’s inspired by outlaw country icons of the 1970s and rock bands of the 1990s.

“I’m a fan of love,” he says unapologetically. “I love my wife, who I’ve been with for 20 years. I love my kids. I love my friends. These songs come out of the good times and the bad times, but the recurring theme of this thing is me finding my happy area. I’ve finally found comfort in who I am. My band’s where it needs to be. I don’t need to fight it.”

  • Lit Concert at Dejoria Center

Lit is considered one of the preeminent bands to have come out of the post-grunge era of the late ’90s and helped define an entire generation of SoCal power punk with hard-charging hits like “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Miserable,” “Zip-Lock,” and “Lipstick & Bruises.” The band has released six worldwide studio albums, including their RIAA Certified Platinum “A Place in the Sun,” which they are currently writing and recording to release new material. The band has remained one of the most active bands from that era and still consists of three original and primary members, including brothers A. Jay (lead vocals), Jeremy Popoff (lead guitar), and Kevin Baldes (bass). Their mega-hit “My Own Worst Enemy” is one of the most broadcasted, covered, karaoke, recognizable rock hits of the last 20 years and won them a Billboard Music Award for Modern Rock Song of the Year. Their fantastic video for “Miserable” featuring Pamela Anderson was one of the top 10 songs played in 2000. As recently as 2017, Lit found themselves back on the charts hitting #1 on the CMT 12-Pack with their video for “Fast” from their These Are the Days album. Lit continues to actively tour their “high-octane performances that have thrilled millions of fans worldwide” – Center Stage Magazine. “The common thread that never changes with Lit is that you can tell the Popoff brothers are in the mix,” Jeremy says with pride. “I’m still playing a Fender Telecaster or a Gibson Les Paul down to my knees, through a Marshall amp with an overdrive stompbox pedal, and A. Jay still sounds like A. Jay.” Their new music promises to deliver the catchy, singable Lit rockers they have become known for a while evolving with their lifelong fans. “We still know how to have a good time,” A. Jay says. “We still party together and maybe get into a little trouble here and there. But we also have other things that play into our songs now, like marriage, divorce, growing up kids, and parents who aren’t getting any younger. We’re evolving as people and learning.”

His album Return to Pooh Corner remains the best-selling children’s album of the last 20 years. In 2016, he released his latest children’s project, the book Footloose (Moondance Press, an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group USA, October 17, 2016), inspired by his 1985 Oscar® nominated and Grammy® Award-winning “Song of the Year.”

The good news is, this water use can be greatly reduced without sacrificing the beauty of the landscape. In fact, water-efficient landscapes often turn out to be more colorful, more interesting, and more diverse than traditional landscapes.

  • Satin Steel @ State Road Tavern

Join us for live music inside State Road Tavern with Satin Steel!

Satin Steel is highly acclaimed for their musical and vocal excellence, but what sets them apart from bands of similar genres is the electrifying performance aura created by the band members in a live atmosphere. They are masters in creating an environment of audience engagement and participation, accounting for their phenomenal 100% rate of return engagements by popular demand.

The #1 goal of the band is to create an environment where the club patrons party with the band rather than being a “Jukebox” providing background music. Lead singer Darla Olsen is not a bandstand performer and spends most of her time during songs mixing with the club patrons, leading dances, filling the room with her powerful vocal range and singing style, and inviting audience participation with her wireless microphone. (Videos at our website www.satinsteel5.com ) Singing roles are shared by the vocalists and precision three and four part harmonies abound with each and every song!

For several years John Sherrill whittled away at his musicianship in Montana. He found a unique sound and approach to presenting the songs he labored so carefully over. He relocated to Charleston, SC and continued to develop his voice, guitar work, and songwriting but missed being out west among the mountains. He decided to relocate again to Salt Lake City. He’s still figuring it all out but he’s grateful that writing songs and playing music remains a constant.
