Bill Kohler is a native of Michigan and had an interest in art at a very early age. His school books always gathered borders full of doodles, cartoons and even caricatures. Bill furthered his education by studying engineering in college, while working as a draftsman part-time. He SOON realized what total boredom really was! You see, his father was an engineer for the Detroit automotive companies and thought “young Bill” would always have employment in that solid profession. But Bill had an answer to energize his future destiny… he joined the Air Force. Often during that time he thought about going to art school, and when he became a civilian again he enrolled at the wonderful Center for Creative Studies in Detroit.
He spent his working career as a Senior Art Director/Creative Director in Detroit’s advertising world. Needless to say the clients he worked for were the “Big Three” car companies. What Bliss! What Deadlines! He also worked for many foreign car companies when they became popular.
Upon his retirement he and his terrific wife Carol moved to Utah’s Heber Valley and lived on a mountain! Utah was where his two married daughters lived with their families and children. What scenes to paint! Woods! Streams! Lakes! Mountains! Wildlife! Horses! Cowboys! Livestock! The Whole Western Menu!
As members of the Midway Art Association, Bill and Carol (Treasurer of the MAA) have thoroughly enjoyed bringing their love for beauty to others. He enjoys sharing his art life with his peers and young people and hopes to mentor and inspire creativity. Happy Trails…
