  • Explore a life-size replica of The Tabernacle from the Old Testament

    Heber City Utah North Stake

Beloved members of the Heber North Stake,

As you have no doubt heard, the Tabernacle event is coming to our valley!  In preparation for our new Temple, having the Tabernacle event here in the Heber Valley is an amazing opportunity to share and experience the history of our Judeo-Christian faith, while driving positive interest in temple worship.

The Tabernacle missionaries in charge of the event emphasize that it’s really all about Jesus Christ.  The focus is on helping YSAs and youth prepare to make covenants, become deliberate disciples in the gathering of Israel, and become teachers and leaders in the Lord’s church.  The Tabernacle also provides opportunities to share the gospel through an interesting and educational historical experience.  Please plan to attend with family, friends and neighbors.

As this event travels around to various location, it is hosted and staffed by YSAs and youth (with appropriate adult support) from the local Stakes.  The 6 stakes in our Valley, plus Park City and Kamas, have each been assigned the task of staffing the event one full day from May 19th – 26th.  The Heber North Stake’s assigned date is Friday, May 19th.  However, you are welcome to attend the Tabernacle event any of the 8 days it will be in Heber.

Each day requires over 200 volunteers.  So each Ward in our Stake has already received a volunteer assignment to fill.  Please check with your ward leaders if you need more information.  Additional opportunities to volunteer include setup on May 18th and takedown on May 27th, as well as security and medical detail during the event.

There will be a Training Fireside hosted by our Stake on Sunday, May 7th at 7pm in the Heber North Stake Center.  The training will be led by our Stake YSA Committee members and is designed for the youth who have volunteered to serve (as well as parents or other adults who may have also volunteered to fill assignments).

There will also be a valley-wide Tabernacle Devotional for YSA and Youth on Wednesday, May 10th in the Midway Stake Center (see attached flyer).

Here is a link to the official site that promotes the Tabernacle Event so you can better understand what this event is all about.  https://www.tabernacleutah.com/

We are so very grateful for your willingness to serve and support this wonderful event.

  • TÁR

    Price: $8 general, $7 seniors & students, $6 members
December 2-4 | Rated R  | 158 mins | Directed by Todd Field | Friday and Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday 6:00 PM
Can you separate the art from the artist, and perhaps more importantly, should you? These questions that hang heavy over our modern life sit at the core of TÁR from writer/director Todd Field. This powerful story follows the fictional (though far too plausibly real) Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett), a renowned conductor/composer at the height of her power, on the eve of the greatest performance of her career. As the big day approaches controversies from her past begin to mount, unraveling her life in a singularly modern way.
A searing portrait of power and influence in today’s society, TÁR exquisitely examines our veneration of artists that are, as we like to say, a bit problematic. While the themes are heavy, there’s joy to be found in the love for the art itself that is evident in the brilliant script. Cate Blanchett gives a transformative performance as a flawed (to put it lightly) master whose bill is finally coming due.

In doing so she is often in predominantly white spaces and thus has had to find ways to stay connected to herself and her culture. This film explores Vanessa’s journey and anyone else who lives between worlds.

“Tools of Ascension” By Chris Murphy and Max Lowe / Produced by YETI
Conrad Anker knows the value of suffering through the climb — letting difficult experiences build. Learn more about his ascension with new climber Malik Martin.

“Mapping Snow” By Aaron Kalischer-Coggins and The Hill
Mapping Snow explores how scientists are trying to better understand snow around the world, to save lives and mitigate the impacts of climate change on our most precious resource.

    “Ski Local” By Skyler Martin
Ski Local explores the past and present culture of skiing on the Palouse.

“First Time Adventure” By The Mad Trees / Produced by Subaru and REI
WWA Ambassador Vasu Sojitra takes fellow athlete Kira Brazinski backcountry skiing for the first time. A short and sweet film about the joy of getting outside together, sharing in our experiences and how we connect to our bodies in the outdoors.

“HUT VIBES” By Noah Howell  / Produced by Flylow and SHELTER
A group of friends head into the Eastern Sierras to share in the well-known and historic backcountry hut experience. A quick look at the magic of huts in the winter and what they provide.

    “The Bottom Line” By NWAC
This short film produced by the Northwest Avalanche Center dives into a typical day for NWAC forecasters out in the field along with their routine once back in the office to get the forecast out to the public.

    “Ski Together” By Greg O’Connor

“The Avalanche Hunter” By Wool Hat Creative
In this adventure vignette, we get a look behind the scenes into the often invisible world of avalanche control and avalanche professionals. The story follows Roz Reynolds, an “avalanche hunter” and certified badass, who is not only blazing trails in her field and keeping the public safe in the mountains, but also laying first tracks on backcountry slopes, climbing ice walls, and more.

    “TENSION” By WNDR Alpine
    An immersive deep pow experience.

“Stepping Out: An Alaskan Expedition” By Top Top Studio
Three women set out to ski in the Alaska range for their first time. Serving as their own guides they were excited to arrive on the glacier and were quickly humbled by the complex structure of the terrain. In a new setting, they reimagine what success looks like beyond the familiar expectations of adventure athletes. The mission? Thrive in new roles and progress as a team to test their limits as skiers and leaders. No trip is perfect but the most memorable ones evolve beyond sport.

“Next Stop Sneg” By Marco Tribelhorn
After receiving a suspicious message on his computer screen, Sven Rauber goes on a hallucinating ski trip into a pillow filled forest in the middle of nowhere. He finds him self in a camp alongside a beautiful river between some hills wich hold some of the best snow and skiing terrain in the world. A movie for ski and snowboard fanatics with an affectation for deep powder tree skiing.

  • The Good House

    Price: $8 general, $7 seniors & students, $6 members
    435.615.8291
November 4-6 | Rated R  | 104 mins | Directed by Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky | Friday and Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday 6:00 PM
The Good House follows Hildy Good (Sigourney Weaver), a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches, who loves her wine and her secrets. Her compartmentalized life begins to unravel as she rekindles a romance with her old high-school flame, Frank Getchell (Kevin Kline), and becomes dangerously entwined in one person’s reckless behavior. Igniting long-buried emotions and family secrets, Hildy is propelled toward a reckoning with the one person she’s been avoiding for decades: herself.

  • I Didn’t See You There

    Thursday, November 3rd | Not Rated | 76 mins | Directed by Reid Davenport | 7PM
As a visibly disabled person, filmmaker Reid Davenport sets out to make a film about how he sees the world, from either his wheelchair or his two feet, without having to be seen himself. The unexpected arrival of a circus tent outside his apartment in Oakland, CA leads him to consider the history and legacy of P.T. Barnum’s Freak Show and its lingering presence in his daily life in the form of gawking, lack of access, and other forms of ableism.
Informed by his position in space, lower to the ground, Davenport captures indelible images, often abstracted into shapes and patterns separate from their meaning. But the circus tent looms in the background, and is reverberated by tangible on-screen interruptions, from unsolicited offers of help to careless blocking of ramps. Personal and unflinching, “I Didn’t See You There” forces the viewer to confront the spectacle and invisibility of disability.
Winner of the Directing Award: U.S. Documentary at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
