  • Science Based Horsemanship With West Taylor @ Liberty Sanctuary

Liberty Sanctuary is excited to host West Taylor for a science-based horsemanship workshop from 9-5 pm on Thursday October 16th.  Please bring lunch to eat when we break!

West Taylor is a nationally recognized expert equine behaviorist with over 15 years of hands-on experience working with wild mustangs and troubled horses using science-based horsemanship. From his ranch at the base of Utah’s Fish Lake Mountains, West has dedicated thousands of hours to studying horse behavior at its purest form. His research focuses on the connection between a horse’s ability to relax and learn versus becoming stressed, anxious, or shut down. This deep understanding of the horse’s nervous system and emotional state forms the foundation of science-based horsemanship, a groundbreaking approach that can transform relationships between horses and humans.  West will be working with some of Liberty’s most skeptical horses.

Known as a trusted problem-solver and often a “last hope” for dangerously reactive or traumatized horses, West brings a unique blend of science, empathy, and skill to his work. He has been featured in numerous films and documentaries about horses and mustangs, and he has coached countless horse owners on building safer, calmer, and more connected partnerships with their animals.

Come to property at 585 S. Little Pole Road down Little Pole Canyon and find us at the upper round pen, past the home.  Please bring a picnic lunch and sunscreen with you. https://maps.app.goo.gl/rtt3TRBzEdjm8PXn6

    Colter May

A person wearing a black rain jacket stands outdoors in front of a rocky, snow-covered mountain landscape, looking to the side with a calm expression.

Colter May is a contemporary artist whose work explores the rugged beauty of the American West through a raw and experimental process. Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, he grew up surrounded by wildlife and wild spaces—an environment that continues to shape his artistic voice today. His childhood was filled with adventure: tracking deer through the woods, sledding down snowy hills, and watching hawks circle above open fields.

His deep respect for wildlife came from time spent in the mountains with his father, while his creative instincts were sparked by his mother’s encouragement to imagine freely and find joy in making. Those early influences instilled in him a love for exploration—both in nature and in the studio. That spirit of discovery still fuels his work, as he blends natural materials like sand, clay, and charcoal into layered, tactile paintings that invite connection.

  • Artist Matt Chatterley @ Sundance Resort

Matt lives in Orem, Utah. He grew up in Kanab, Utah, Orem and Austin, Texas, and then attended BYU, where he graduated with a BA in art and design and an MFA in painting and drawing. After completing graduate studies, he worked as a graphic artist for the Arizona Republic, in Phoenix, and then as art director at the Des Moines Register in Iowa.

He is married to Ruth Welsh, also from Orem and they have six children. Matt exhibits work in the Midwest and Utah. He is a member of the Midway Art Association and the Spring City Arts Association

    ARTIST STATEMENT
I view all of my paintings and drawings, regardless of subject matter, as portraits. It might be a portrait of a mesa or butte, or a grove of trees, or a person, or a vase of flowers. Each has value, color and form, character and feelings to explore, know, and interpret.

Having said that, the great majority of my paintings are landscapes, and I think it is because I respond strongly to the places we inhabit and experience. Place is important. I’m not just painting a road or a tree or a farm. I’m painting a place where someone walked, a child played, parents raised a family, where the challenges of life were struggled with, and sometimes worked out and understood. I want my work to convey those feelings, though they may not be a specific representation of them.

I was born in southern Utah, grew up in Orem, lived in the Southwest for a few years and the Midwest for almost two decades. I’ve traveled all over the United States and to the Middle East. And now I live back in Utah. I paint the landscapes I have been part of and that are part of me. I haven’t lived in southern Utah for a long time, but I still feel the colored sands of the canyon country are part of me because of the years of my childhood spent there.

This book is about how oil and gas companies knew about climate change’s devastating impacts on the planet as far back as the 1950s—and yet they did nothing to warn the world. What they did instead was instigate a misinformation campaign—borrowing tactics and advertising reps from Big Tobacco—to make some Americans believe climate change isn’t real.

Heber City’s own Earth Artist, Julia Eide has started a monthly New Moon Intention Setting Class and Supportive Circle.

    About Setting New Moon Intentions

New moons are the first phase of the lunar cycle and thus are known for new beginnings. The energy of new beginnings is a great time to set goals, start something new and reflect on the past moon cycle. In addition everyone will work with and embracing the beauty of crystals.

It is for these reasons that new moon intentions are widely popular and even if you don’t follow the cycle of the moon it’s most likely that during the days before and after a new moon you’re craving something new. Not to mention fun with friends in the circle.

Designed to have a monthly theme of flowers and different kinds of arrangements, this is the best time to learn something new! Amazing opportunity to gather friends or family to for a group activity.

January’s floral theme is: Winter Wonderland, without the holidays colors of red and green. White flowers, white vases and an abundance of elegance. Great for your home or gift someone else. • Leadership Workshop with Brian Peters & Andy Stumpf

This one-day seminar is designed to professionally develop and optimize your life for entrepreneurial and leadership success. We are hosting the Subject Matter Experts, Brian Peters and Andy Stumpf, both will share their successes and failures, and give you tangible tactics that can be implemented into your life. Dinner option is available for an additional fee on top of the workshop.

We will have dinner concluding the workshop. The workshop includes a seat for dinner with Brian & Andy.

    Dinner Time: 6pm-7:30pm

Andy Stumpf is a former Navy SEAL. He enlisted for military service in 1996, after completing the necessary military training, Stumpf began his SEAL career assigned to SEAL Team Five. Throughout his 17-year career, he served on both East and West coast SEAL Teams. Post military, Stumpf managed Corporate Development and Licensing for a global fitness brand, focusing on strategic relationships and sponsorship opportunities. In 2015 Stumpf founded Razor 01 LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to teaching the lessons learned from over a decade of sustained combat in Special Operations to the leaders and managers of corporate America.

Former NFL linebacker Brian Peters, who is now an elite performance coach, will be joining us to lead exposure training, including heat (sauna) and cold plunge exposure and breathwork. The breath/respiratory rate is a crucial signal to the brain stem that dictates physiological arousal levels and muscle control. (Heart rate, exchange of gases for oxygen supply, loading/unloading of muscle tissue in the midline) Control the breath, control your state. The breath and the benefits from honing this skill are powerful. Powerful for athletes and everyone with a set of lungs. It’s a simple way to train smarter. Simple yet significant. For more information, check out The Mindset Project. This will open your mind and body to new heights and expand your capabilities.

To conclude the training, Brian and Andy will host an open forum for discussion and answer all your questions regarding the seminar.
