Park City Miner’s day 2024

Miners Day is an annual celebration held in Park City, Utah, to honor the town’s rich mining history. The festival takes place on the first Monday in September and features a wide range of activities and events for all ages.

The festival begins with a Miner’s Day breakfast held in City Park for locals and visitors alike, a 5k with your dogs, a Running of the Balls event on Main Street, a traditional parade through Main Street, featuring floats, antique cars, and local organizations. After the parade, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities, including live music, a 5k run, a mucking and drilling competition, and a miners’ memorial service.

One of the highlights of Miners Day is the traditional “mucking and drilling” competition, where miners and local volunteers compete in a series of events, including jackleg drilling and hand steeling. This competition showcases the physical and technical skills that miners used to extract ore from the area’s mines.

Miners Day is a popular event in the Park City community, bringing together locals and visitors to celebrate the town’s mining heritage. It is an opportunity to learn about the history of the town and the people who built it, while enjoying a fun-filled day of activities and entertainment.
