Wasatch County law enforcement responded to a chase that went through much of the valley on Friday.
Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office reports that the 911 dispatch center received a call from Orem dispatch that the driver and passenger of a stolen black Ford Expedition were on the move headed towards Wasatch County on Friday.
Orem Police had attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled on State route 189 towards Wasatch County. Wasatch County deputies attempted to stop the vehicle near Wallsburg. Heber City officers attempted to assist by spiking the vehicle’s tires but the driver swerved towards an officer. The driver fled through Heber City where the tires were eventually successfully spiked, however, the driver continued to flee in the vehicle ramming into two law enforcement vehicles and crashing into another unoccupied vehicle.
Officers were finally able to stop the vehicle by performing a PIT maneuver, which is when a law enforcement officer’s vehicle bumps the rear of a fleeing vehicle causing the car to lose control and stop.
The male driver and female passenger were taken safely into custody, law enforcement revels the investigation thus far resulted in suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
During the incident officer works to keep motorists safe and notified the Wasatch County School District, schools in the district were placed on lock-down for precautionary purposes, no threats were directed at the school.
Throughout the whole incident, no citizens or law enforcement officers were injured.
